Top match in the Premier Division this weekend is the clash between AFC Stratton and Purton, writes RAY BURROUGHS.
Stratton have a chance to take over the leadership of the section should they secure the three points against their Red House opponents.
Leaders Trowbridge Town are in action in the third round of the Corsham Print Senior Cup against Shrewton United, leaving the way clear for the Swindon side who are just one point behind pole position.
Stratton beat Devizes Reserves last weekend and manager Stef Kucynski was quite happy with his new-look line-up.
He has told the players not to worry what other sides in the section are doing but to concentrate on picking up points.
Purton, third in the table, have had an excellent season so far and boss Ian Restell was delighted after his side's 6-2 win at Cricklade last week.
Fielding six players from the under 16 squad the Purton boss was quick to praise the youngsters after the match.
It could well be one of the most difficult games that Stratton have had for a while but as their manager said: "There's no easy games in the Premier section."
Wroughton, in desperate need of a base, have a home fixture against Pewsey Vale but with the weather looking likely to turn wet, Dr Martens side Supermarine may not want their pitch cut up so early in the year.
Last week's game with Warminster was due to go ahead at Hunts Copse but was postponed. The match is now being switched to Pewsey.
Aldbourne, beaten by lowly Malmesbury Vics last week, have a chance to gain swift revenge in the reverse fixture.
Chiseldon Castrol entertain Marlborough Town. Marlborough returned to winning ways last week against Melksham and will be looking to build on that victory.
Cricklade Town face a tough Corsham Print Cup battle at Bradford and will need to be at their very best.
Crunch game in Junior Division One promises to be at second-placed Bromham where the home side take on leaders Trowbridge Town Reserves.
