The sad thing about the plan for the Mechanics' is that there will be no problem in getting it passed.
Residents in Hythe Road have recently suffered from the council's lack of interest in what happens in Swindon, with the result that a monstrosity has been built in the back gardens.
The original applicant who applied to build one house on this tiny plot of land had so many restrictions applied that he abandoned his plans and sold the lot. The purchaser submitted plans to build three houses using some of the back gardens of adjoining houses. Permission was given and, it appears, the original restrictions were no longer necessary.
As Swindon council is always struggling to manage its finances, it would appear that it has a department that is useless.
