AN award-winning Wiltshire packaging firm is celebrating the New Year in a new purpose-built factory which marks the latest state in its expansion plans.
The Great Western Packaging Company has moved to new 42,000 sq ft premises at Chelworth Park, Cricklade, after more than a decade on Cheney Manor in Swindon.
The new factory, almost double the size of its previous works, means that Great Western now operates its production and finished goods storage facilities from a single site. Said Ian Heskins, Great Western's sales director: "Our move went extremely well with no disruption to our operations and we're very pleased with our new premises, which means we'll be able to further improve on all aspects of our service."
The move to Cricklade also coincides with the announcement that Ruth Cook, head of finance, has become managing director.
Great Western, founded in 1990, employs around 70 staff with a turnover of £4m. The firm was recently honoured by the National Packaging Council with an award for innovative packaging design.
