WOOTTON Bassett 3rd improved on their previous display against Hungerford, but still slipped to a 28-8 Dorset & Wilts Two North defeat.
Bassett were thrashed 75-0 earlier this season, but grabbed the lead this time through a finely-struck penalty kick from fly-half Piers Carter.
Hungerford hit back with two tries, one conversion and one penalty to give them a half time lead of 18-3.
Bassett suffered a blow when second row Colin Mountford had to leave the field 10 minutes into the half with a leg injury.
Scrum-half Dave Scott dived over from the back of a ruck to score their second try but Hungerford breached their defence twice more to give them the victory.
