Ref. 28585-06ABOUT 16 Swindon dancers have been chosen to perform in a Russian ballet.
The youngsters, aged from ten to 12, are from the Tanwood School of Dance and Performing Arts, based in Dowling Street, which is run by Mollie Tanner and her daughter Pollyann.
Mollie said: "It is good experience for the dancers to perform in a professional show.''
The children were put through their paces in the first rehearsal with the company on Sunday as they learned clog dancing.
"I have been teaching them the basics from a video,'' said Mollie. "But I know they will be fine.''
The Ballet Russe, from Swansea, selects dancers from a school in each town it visits. Dancers from Tanwood were also chosen to dance with the company last year.
The company will be performing La Fille Mal Gardee a traditional Russian ballet at Swindon's Wyvern Theatre on January 21 at 7.30pm. For tickets call 01793 524481.
