John Short frequently and valiantly seeks to defend Swindon Services against any criticism. But may I suggest he reads the front page of the EA (January 2) and then explains why his directorate failed to

ensure a public car park was cleansed of drug related syringes.

I trust he will not trot out the old phrases of limited resources etc, as having seen our council tax increase by over 30 per cent in the last two years I believe we have the right to expect and demand that Swindon Services do the jobs they are contracted to perform.

If Mr Short advises that it is not the role of Swindon Services to keep the council's car parks free of such rubbish, perhaps he could let your readers know who is charged with this task.
