MORE than 700 people turned out to say goodbye to family man Francesco Mazzotta who was at the heart of the Italian community in Swindon.
For many Italians arriving in this country he became a true friend and father figure by helping them overcome the difficulties of life in a strange land and take their places in contributing to Swindon's community and economy.
He represented the values of family life and was well respected by many in all walks of life, not only among his own countrymen.
He came to this country during the war but obviously fell in love with England and decided to return, which was our gain.
His friends and family may have said their final goodbyes to him but Francesco Mazzotta's legacy will live on.
