THE next meeting of the Wiltshire Rural Business Club is on January 20, when the guest speaker will be Stephen Archer, a business adviser with the Inland Revenue.
The meeting, which takes place at the Black Dog in Chilmark, starts at 6pm and the title of Mr Archer's talk is 'budget statement and business tax returns'.
Mr Archer will be talking about Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown's latest pronouncements that affect business.
He will also be speaking about allowable business expenses and record keeping, mainly aimed at the self-employed, and PAYE.
At the previous meeting, Gerald Russell, training and development manager at Shelwork Industries of Salisbury, spoke about the work of Shelwork in helping disabled people into work.
He also gave information about the requirements of the latest legislation concerning disability access in relation to employees, and the financial assistance available.
On March 16, Carole Buksh of Partners in Training will give a talk on credit control.
o The Rural Business Club is open to all businesses in the rural areas of south west Wiltshire.
It is sponsored by Salisbury district council, West Wilts district council and Wiltshire Rural Development Programme, and supported by Business Link Berkshire & Wiltshire.
