Swindon Police has saluted the work of Street Watch.
Acting chief inspector David McMullin said: "Prostitution has markedly fallen in the area and Street Watch has been fundamental in achieving this. I commend their aims and methods and am pleased we have such a positive relationship."
Cheri Wright, Swindon Council's Anti Social Behaviour coordinator, also admires the group, which is helping to obtain court injunctions banning prostitutes from the area.
She said: "Their commitment is quite incredible and shows how passionate they are about ownership of the area. Without such comprehensive evidence, it would be far harder to achieve the orders."
