A DISPUTE has erupted over plans to turn a football pitch around to accommodate a car showroom.
Secondsite Property wants to build the showroom and workshop on land at Swindon Gas Sports and Social Club, off Gipsy Lane, but needs to turn the club's football pitch around.
Now there is a disagreement between planning officers and agents, Cheltenham-based Hunter Page Planning, over the size of the pitch.
According to Football Associat-ion rules a soccer pitch has to be a minimum of 100 yards x 50 yards for adults.
Councillors will visit the site to try to find out if a full-size pitch can be fitted in and to resolve the issue.
Labour group leader Kevin Small (Western) a Wiltshire Football Association referee for the past 22 years said: "It's never been a good quality pitch."
