Stan and Marie Dymond, who have just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. DA85P1A WELL-KNOWN Salisbury couple, who have been part of the community and sporting life of the city for more than half-a-century, have just celebrated another milestone in their life together.

Last week, Stan and Marie Dymond celebrated being married for 65 years and they are still as close and loving today as they were when they married.

They met at Salisbury swimming pool as teenagers and their mutual love of diving helped form a swimming partnership that lasted for many years.

They toured and competed together, representing Salisbury and Wiltshire, and they were both champion high-divers.

Mr Dymond, who is now 92, captained Wiltshire's water-polo team, as well as playing football and table tennis for Salisbury.

The couple, who live in Bingham Road, are also well-known for the family taxi business, which they operated until they reached retirement age.

But they also have two other claims to fame.

One of their two children is Beaky, of Salisbury's '60s pop group Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich. And, one of their nephews is television personality Chris Biggins.

Beaky, who lives in Spain, was able to visit them a couple of days before last Wednesday's big day.

Mrs Dymond (86) said: "He rings me once a fortnight and we usually see him a couple of times a year.

"It was lovely seeing him in time for our anniversary," she said.

"We celebrated the actual day by going out for a meal with our daughter, Janet Nicholson, and our son-in-law, Len, and it was a lovely evening."
