TOM Walsh scored a hat-trick as Worton and Cheverell grabbed all three points at home to Trowbridge Wanderers in the under 14s Green Division of the Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News Mid-Wilts Youth and Minor League.

The home side scored soon after kick-off and dominated the early part of the game.

The visitors finished the first half the stronger of the two and came close on several occasions after the break.

Worton held firm at the back, with a splendid performance by Joost Lace, before Walsh finished the game with two goals inside the final five minutes to seal the victory.

Bemerton Heath Harlequins remain unbeaten and nine points clear at the top of the table following their 7-1 away win against Calne Town Youth.

FC CHIPPENHAM came out on top in a seven goal thriller against Shaw and Whitley.

In a very entertaining, end-to-end encounter, Will Fisher gave Chippenham the lead from the penalty spot but by the break Shaw had equalised before taking the lead at 2-1.

Just inside the second half Shaw extended their lead but there was plenty of time left for the home side to regroup and attack. Mark Nolan brought the game to 2-3 before Jason Blackmore equalised for Chippenham.

Chippenham continued to battle on and were rewarded for their efforts with a winning goal from Jack Woolings.

Andy Robbins, Jordan Coulter and Ian Jeffery scored for Shaw and Whitley.

THE game between Westbury Youth and visitors Warminster United Youth produced excitement at both ends of the pitch.

Warminster started the game well and took advantage of some disarray in the Westbury ranks to take an early lead.

Westbury gradually came back into the game and Scott Power was able to get on the end of a loose ball in the Warminster area to slot home the equaliser.

The game then entered a period when both sides had chances as the play swung from end to end. Westbury went ahead on 24 four minutes when the ball came to Sam Reeves who shot into the top corner.

The second half saw Westbury more dominant with Jack Coxall extending their lead after four minutes.

Both teams struggled with the conditions for a while as the heavens opened and shower them with hailstones but Westbury took the opportunity to press on.

A fourth goal came from Daniel Greenslade in the 49th minute as he beat two players on the left of the area and shot into the far top corner.

Four minutes later Coxall dived to head a ball at knee height into the net to make it 5-1.

Warminster never gave up the fight, hitting back with a well taken goal and were unlucky not to have made it 5-2 when a free kick went narrowly wide. Westbury broke quickly to restore their four goal lead as substitute Kye Oxley got a goal that his efforts richly deserved to make the final result 6-2 to Westbury.

Visitors FC Chippenham Youth gave an outstanding team performance to hold second place Bradford on Avon to a 1-1 draw.

Nick Harrison scored for Chippenham, with Elliot Caris-Smith replying for Bradford.

Trowbridge Wanderers remain strong contenders for the championship after a 9-0 away win over AFC Corsham.

White Horse Juniors move up into fifth place following their home win against Melksham Park.

The first half saw White Horse hold a narrow 2-1 advantage, but they took total control of the game in the second half firing a further seven into the net to finish 9-1 winners.

The White Horse scorers were Jordan Braide (2), Joshua King-Archer (2), James Aplin (2), Harry Bowman, Tom Batten and Aaron Crossley.

THE second phase of under 11s football got underway at the weekend with all teams now seeded, based on their results from the first phase.

The first set of results are encouraging, with all games proving very close encounters.

AFC Corsham and visitors Trowbridge Town Youth Reds won their respective groups prior to Christmas, so it was inevitable they would be pitched together in the top flight for the second half of the season.

And if this was a taste of the quality and excitement that junior football can provide then spectators are in for a feast for the remainder of the season.

Both teams started well and early exchanges were evenly matched. Corsham's battling qualities in midfield helped to disrupt the visitors and both teams quickly realised how much respect they needed to give each other.

Tom Smith and Robin Shaw had half chances for Corsham but it was Trowbridge who drew first blood. On 13 minutes a Corsham clearance was directed back into the box for Mitchell Spackman to win the challenge with Ben Wyborn in the home goal and slot the ball home.

Robin Shaw on the Corsham left enjoyed a lot of possession and his pace was a constant threat. This was capitalised on a minute from half-time, when Shaw's fine run took him past two defenders and his cross was met by the advancing Darrin Moss to finish from close range.

Playing uphill in the second half, Corsham continued to threaten the Trowbridge goal with excellent chances falling to Jordan Murphy, Tom Smith, Moss and Shaw but they were unable to take any advantage.

Trowbridge had grown in confidence and soon it was their turn to pressure the Corsham defence. While Simon Burt and Max Gauntlett were excellent at the back for the hosts, there was little they could do about Trowbridge's winner.

Corsham had pushed up but an excellent through ball beat the offside trap and Josh Ferguson found himself with a long run but only the advancing Wyborn in the Corsham goal to beat.

On the edge of the box, Ferguson skilfully rounded the keeper and finished well to give his team the three points.

Under 11s Red Division

Chippenham Town Youth ran out 2-1 winners away to local rivals FC Chippenham, Melksham Park ran out 2-1 winners at home to Devizes Town Youth and Bradford on Avon were winners away to Pewsey Vale.

Bradford went 1-0 up at the break with an own goal after a very closely fought first half. Pewsey were back level after George Snook picked up the ball on the halfway line then finished off by rounding the last defender and then the keeper. Bradford secured all three points with a late goal to finish 2-1 winners.

THE mid-table clash between White Horse Juniors and Castle Combe Colts saw another enjoyable, friendly and competitive game which ended 2-2.

Both sides worked hard for the winning goal without quite doing so.
