CHIPPENHAM got the new year off to a great start with a comprehensive win at Devizes.
Although their first game for a number of weeks, Chippenham soon pulled their game together and produced some fine football. Sarah Walsh opened the scoring for the visitors early in the half.
By the time the half-time whistle was blown, Chippenham had a comfortable 5-1 lead. Further goals came from Kim Sanger and Tash Perry with two apiece.
During the second half, Devizes had their opportunities to score and pulled two goals back. But another two goals from Kim Sanger sealed the victory for Chippenham.
Although the scoreline was in favour of Chippenham, and the weather conditions could have been better, both teams played well and both worked hard.

CHIPPENHAM cast aside torential rain and high winds to batter Devizes' youngsters.
The visitors made an excellent start and were soon threatening the Devizes goal with Louise Edney opening the scoring for Chippenham.
Chippenham continued to play some good accurate football and their dominance in attack led to a flurry of foals. Hannah Way with six and Becky Watson adding two more.
Despire the scoreline, Devizes kept their heads up and played some spirited football.
But Hannah Gardner scored from a long clearance from Becky Watson. Gemma Patchett had a great game in defence/midfield and played a significant role in gaining possession and creating attacks.
Laura Griffiths headed in from a corner to make it 11-0 with Jenny Hankinson playing a strong role up front, curled one in to make it 12-0.
Just before the half-time whistle, Louise Edney slotted in her second to give Chippenham a quite unassailable lead of 13-0 going into the break.
For the second half, Devizes substituted their goalkeeper and came out with renewed determination.
This proved effective as Chippenham were unable to score against a revitalised Devizes defence and the scoreline remained the same.
