CALNE Town boss Kelvin Highmore is set to ban his players from turning out for their Sunday league teams to keep them fresh for two vital games in three days.
Calne play Street at home in the league on Saturday before travelling to Melksham Town in the Les Phillips Cup second round on Monday night.
Highmore said: "A lot of the lads play on Sunday mornings so as a one-off I'm going to ask them not to because three games is three days is going to affect you," he continued.
"If they decide to play on Sunday they may not feature on Monday."
Highmore may also try to withdraw veteran Robbie Lardner early on Saturday to give him more time to recover.
Calne were without a fixture on Saturday and their home league clash with Clevedon United on Tuesday night was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Street are four places and five points in front of Calne in the table and Highmore expects nothing less than a win against them. He said: "I think Street have been a little bit hit and miss this season to be honest.
"Larkhall beat them 1-0 away on Saturday but the Larkhall goalkeeper was the man of the match so I'm not sure how much you can read into the result.
"I went to watch them last year but when they played us they had made eight changes and our homework went out the window. This time I am concentrating on getting our own house in order. On our day we can beat anyone and we have certainly got to start picking up points at home."
He said his side needed to have more of a cutting edge and scrap their way to victories. I've told the players it is now a case of winning must come before the performance," added Highmore. "We need to be ruthless because we aren't that sometimes.
"We beat Corsham on Boxing Day but then didn't win at Ilfracombe who were bottom. Willand went down to Ilfracombe and won 4-0 on Saturday. As far as I'm concerned that should have been our result."
A good result on Saturday will provide the springboard for a cup upset against Melksham two days later. "We are going into it as underdogs like against Highworth," said Highmore. "But I don't want another one like that game (whch ended 5-3 to Calne) or I'll need blood pressure tablets.
"The Screwfix League is more physical than the Hellenic so Monday will be harder. But after Highworth we will fancy our chances."
Highmore has made a seven-day approach for Westbury's Craig Lewis after seeing him play for Wiltshire U18s on Saturday.
