THE gas supply at Kingsdown School today remained switched off for the fourth day in a row after a leak.
The leak was discovered after gas could be smelled in a cupboard near the school entrance on Monday, and all 1,200 pupils were sent home after engineers from Transco turned the Stratton St Margaret school's supply off as a precaution
One group year 11 was allowed into school yesterday to do mock GCSE geography exams and other work towards GCSEs.
Today only year 10 pupils were allowed in to catch up on their school work. The school can only allow a limited number of students into the building at one time because only a few classrooms can be warmed by electric heaters.
Parents are being advised to call an answerphone on 01793 837104 to find out the latest situation.
The source of the leak has been detected and engineers are waiting for a part to arrive before it can be fixed.
A parents' evening which starts at 5pm tonight is still going ahead.
No pupils were put at risk by the leak.
The school is hoping it will be fully reopened tomorrow.
