PERSIMMON Homes will have to take one floor off a newly built house after it failed to gain retrospective planning permission.
The three-storey house, in Beversbrook Lane, Calne, was built without the roof being included in the overall dimensions. This means it is ten per cent higher than the original plan.
Coun John Ireland, who has been fighting on behalf of residents against retrospective permission being given, said the house completely overshadowed a neighbouring bungalow and deprived the family of privacy.
He said: "We have a duty to each citizen to ensure that their lives are not blighted because of the greed of big business corporations such as this."
An enforcement notice will now be issued to the developers.
