TRAIN operator First Great Western is warning of interruptions and alterations to weekend services in a programme of track improvement by Network Rail.

Some passengers will face making sections of their journeys by bus over coming weekends.

The alterations most likely to affect people travelling to and from Swindon include:

Work between Swindon and Bristol Parkway beginning on the evening of Saturday, January 24, and continuing throughout the following day. As a result, services between South Wales and London Paddington will be diverted via Gloucester and not call at Bristol Parkway.

A bus service will be provided between Bristol Parkway and Swindon.

Work between Swindon and Bath Spa on the evening of Saturday, January 24, and the following morning. Services will continue to run between Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington, although via an alternate route. A bus service will be provided between Swindon, Chipp-enham and Bath Spa.

Work between Reading and London Paddington between the late evening of Saturday, February 7, and the early hours of the following day, meaning a bus shuttle service between the two stations.

First Great Western spokesman Tim Bowcock said the timetable was available at stations and that details were also available from National Rail Inquiries on 08457 48 49 50.
