A WORRYING back injury for Chippenham's Sean Atkin seven minutes from time halted this hard-fought encounter and eventually lead to it being abandoned.
Atkin went down after a challenge and was taken to hospital. He was later released.
This was always going to be a close encounter for these local neighbours. Corsham were seeking revenge for their narrow defeat four weeks ago.
Due to injury, Chippenham were forced to make a number of changes in the forward line for the match.
The game started with Corsham taking the game to Chippenham. For the first quarter of an hour, the visitors found themselves defending their line.
When Chippenham finally managed to advance into the Corsham half, they did come close on a number of occasions to scoring. But it was the home team who opened the scoring when Paul Frankcom forced over a hotly disputed pushover try.
Chippenham made at the break and continued to put pressure on Corsham.
Finally the pressure told and a fine move in the backs resulted in Chippenham's Dave Burrows running in to score a try under the posts.
The try was was converted by the returning Ceri Morris.
Injuries then hit Chippenham particularly in the forward line. The enforced changes and resutling reorganisation of the team, gave Corsham the advantage and Chippenham began to concede possession to the home side.
Frankcom went over to grab his second try and Steve Tye converted to make it 12-7.
Then came Atkin's injury. Both sides have agreed to replay the game later in the season.
