Robin Hood has swapped Sherwood Forest for the information super highway thanks to the Dilton Players.

Rehearsals are currently in full flow for Robin Hood in Cyberspace, which is on stage at Dilton Memorial Hall, in Dilton Marsh, on January 30 and 31.

The pantomime has been written by Jean Holden and Merrilyn Richardson, two members of the village drama group, whose previous efforts have already proved a hit with audiences.

The play sees Robin doing battle with a global corporation for who his mother is housekeeper.

He teams up with Maid Marion to hack into the Dragon corporation's computer system and diverts funds to a charity for world orphans. The lead characters, played by Benjamin Kinzett and Laura Donelly, eventually ensure the money is returned as the drama reaches its climax.

Mrs Richardson said: "The audience for the Dilton panto know what to expect the minute they come in.

"There is no substitute for lightening the darker days than a village hall filled with people enjoying themselves."

The Dilton Players started out in 1995 to raise funds for the village church. Over the years the group has gone from strength to strength and the players still give money to the church, but increased profits mean they can support many other local causes.

Tickets are £5 for adults and £2.50 for children from the village post office or by calling (01373) 822098 or 822474.
