i have been an avid reader of what the Conservative councillors are saying about what has been spent in the latter years by the former council and what must be done to get things on an even course: what services must be cut, what elderly homes must be closed, and the need for reduced rubbish collection.

Then we get what the Labour and the Lib Dems councillors are saying, and they all seem to be pulling in all different directions, which is a useless waste of time, money and effort.

What they all forget is that we voted them in to listen and to try to do the best for the people of Swindon. Instead of moaning about each other they should try to work together for the people, not for their own groups. It is about time they learned that we can also vote them off the council.

I have just learned that to try to save money we are to lose special needs for children with learning difficulties in a lot of schools in Swindon. This to me is really a stupid reaction because these children really need this help.

We will also be losing small libraries, sometimes the only place a lot of the elderly and young mothers with toddlers get to and see other people.

Instead of moaning about the Front Garden being used for housing, they should think of all the people who are living in flats with children and bedsits, we can then give people a decent affordable home to live in.

What is really needed is rented accommodation for people who cannot get on the first ladder to buying so many people are buying their council properties so they can get on the buying ladder. Think of what the revenue this would bring the council, and it would create more jobs so there were less people out of work.

Also, I have tried to get to some of the open meetings, but they are usually around 5 or 6pm a stupid time as many people are going home from work or cooking their evening meals so let's have more at a more convenient time.
