PEOPLE in Swindon are being urged to search their homes for old Christmas cards as part of a country-wide recycling blitz.
Earlier this month the Woodland Trust teamed up with WH Smith and Tesco to launch the massive recycling scheme.
Shoppers can donate their old cards at Tesco, in Ocotal Way and WH Smith, in Regent Street.
Organisers are hoping to beat last year's total of 40 million cards that is equivalent to 800 tonnes.
It is hoped the scheme will ease pressure on landfill sites as well as help protect some of the UK's most historical woodland.
Trust spokesman Karl Mitchell said: "The scheme has gone from success to success but there are a great deal more cards out there we would like to recycle."
