PARENTS of children hoping to attend the new nursery and primary school in Taw Hill are to meet the head teacher for the first time.
Children in the Taw Hill area currently have to travel several miles to attend Moredon and Haydonleigh schools.
Construction work is due to start on St Francis Primary School, in Taw Hill Village Centre, next month and it is planning to admit pupils in September.
The deadline for applications to the new school has passed and 57 applications have been received but the Rev Ruth Cram, the chairwoman of the temporary school governors, said she would consider fresh applications sympathetically.
St Francis, which is to be a Church of England school, will eventually have the capacity for 210 pupils.
Headteacher Clive Westall will be meeting parents on January 28 at 8pm at the Taw Hill Worship Centre, in Queen Elizabeth Drive.
Application forms for the school are available from Mrs Cram on 01793 701353.
