Ref. 28630-15LAURA Mundy is hoping to leap feet first into the Guinness Book of World Records. The 12-year-old of Hatch Road, Stratton, has attempted to beat the record for wearing the most socks on one foot.
She squeezed her right foot into 50 socks nine more than the current record, which is held by presenter Kirsten O'Brien who wore 41 socks during the Big Toe Radio Show on the digital radio station BBC7 last May.
Now, Laura, who goes to Headlands School, and her family, including three-year-old brother James, are waiting to hear back from the judges at the Guinness Book of World Records.
She said: "I feel really pleased I managed to get them all on. My foot got quite hot though.
"If I don't succeed or if someone beats my record, I'll try again."
Last year, she and a group of friends sat in a paddling pool full of custard and raised more £200 for the Swindon Cancer Appeal for Macmillan nurses.
She added: "My friends think I'm a bit crazy. They think I'll do anything."
Mum Angie Curtis, 36, said: "You are only a kid once so I thought why not? When she sets her mind to something, she'll do it."
The attempt was witnessed and videoed for authenticity.
Laura had to use socks that were commercially available, and they could not be knitted or Christmas stockings.
