Swindon will play Calne in the quarter-finals of the Dorset & Wilts 1st XV Vase after beating Cooper Avon Tyres 17-10 at their Melksham base.
The visiting side bagged two tries, skipper Paul Wakefield and second row Andy Morley crossing, but they had to withstand a storming home comeback.
The first half ended scoreless, despite Swindon dominating the early exchanges.
They were unable to convert their pressure into points, flanker Paul Daniels coming closest with a powerful run and dive for the line,
However, he was adjudged to have brushed the corner flag on his way over.
Playing with the wind at their backs in the second period, Swindon broke the deadlock when Cooper Avon infringed at the tackle.
Hooker Scott Chapman stepped up to slot the kick and edge his side into the lead.
They extended the margin through Wakefield.
An attack led by fly-half Stuart Cock ended with Wakefield taking his pop-pass and to burst through the defence to score under the posts, Chapman converting.
Seemingly having the game won, Wakefield's score merely inspired a fightback from the home team.
They got their reward scoring two well-worked tries, but neither was converted, leaving the score 10-10 and setting up a tense final quarter.
The final 10 minutes saw Swindon camped in the opposition 22 and several opportunities were wasted.
But, with the game heading for extra time Morley popped up to break the deadlock , crashing over from two metres out.
Chapman converted to retain his 100 per cent kicking record.
Swindon face Calne in the quarter final at Greenbridge Road on February 7.
