VOLUNTEERS are needed to help plant 3,000 trees in the latest phase of the Great Western Community Forest project.
The latest planting will take place at Oxleaze Farm in South Marston on Sunday, February 1.
The forest will eventually cover a vast swathe of the region, improving the environment as well as providing a leisure facility.
At local level, the newly-planted trees will enhance the landscape and improve the wildlife value of the area, according to the Swindon-based Great Western Community Forest Team.
The team says people of all ages are welcome to attend, and that refreshments will be provided.
Details of the tree planting, and any last-minute changes of plan, can be obtained on 01793 466324 or at www.forestweb.org.uk.
