TOMORROW sees the first of the public consultation meetings about this year's council tax rise.
People are invited to attend the meeting in the council chamber at the Civic Offices in Euclid Street at 11am.
A further meeting will be held at the same venue on January 29, at 7pm. The subject of council tax in Swindon is a controversial one, with the Government ordering the council to ensure any increase is in the low single figures or face capping.
Council leader Mike Bawden (Con, Old Town and Lawn) said he hoped to see the council chamber packed for both meetings. He added: "I welcome an honest debate about Swindon's council tax and these meetings are an important part of the consultation process.
"I, and other elected members, are happy to meet people to answer any questions."
The authority has sent out 2,400 council tax questionnaires to a cross-section of people and copies can be obtained by calling 01793 463101.
