CHIPPENHAM maintained their fine form in South West Two East as they claimed a 25-13 win at High Wycombe.
The game turned out to be a tougher encounter than expected.
High Wycombe boasted a new coach and a number of regular players returned from injury.
It was Chippenham who opened the scoring though after 10 minutes, with a try from Darren McMillan.
A further try came from fly-half Matt Spurway after 25 minutes and skipper Rupert Crockett was on target with the boot to add the conversion, plus a later penalty.
Scott Sherratt and a High Wycombe flanker were sin-binned for fighting, but Chippenham held a lead of 15-0 at the interval.
High Wycombe roared back on the restart, scorng two tries and a penalty to cut the gap to two points.
But Sherratt redeemed himself by scoring a try. The final score came from Wells.
n CHIPPENHAM 2nd are through to the final of the Dorset & Wilts 2nd XV Cup after a 13-8 win over Wootton Bassett.
Gareth Williams scored a penalty and a try for Bassett, but their opponents went through to the March final where they will face Swanage & Wareham.
Despite a lacklustre first-half performance, after which they trailed 5-3, Chippenham fought their way through.
Fly-half Paul Clifford kicked them in front, but Williams try gave Bassett the interval lead.
In the second half, winger Julian Squires went over and a late try from No 8 Ben Shuker clinched it.
WOOTTON Bassett 3rd grabbed a splendid 32-8 victory against their Chippenham counterparts at Allington Field.
Alun Jones kicked a penalty and Ben Chamberlain scored a try.
But Bassett were always in the ascendancy and scored six tries before the game was ended when Jones was knocked unconscious.
