HAVING congratulated Mike Bawden in my letter to "Our Evening Advertiser" dated January 5, I regret to have to say it today; but, whatever is he thinking of, to associate himself with the 'belief,' that 'Swindon people' did not want 24 hour bus lanes and could now revert to 12 hour daytime lanes.
If as Councillor Ian Dobie states, that there is almost no congestion outside daytime hours, then why ever does he even give time, to the merest consideration, that it would be wise to permit general usage of the lanes from 7pm to 7am daily.
All we would be gaining is an increased accident level with tearaways moving into the vacant bus lane and endangering all other cars from the approach to a desired left hand junction.
The other absolute wastage of £20,000 to produce and erect new signs for this completely senseless and totally unnecessary wanton money spend is for no real reason.
Please expose all the other stupid propositions that we poor citizens may have to finance.
