STUDENTS at a Pewsey school will be bringing to life inequalities in world trade. They will be making presentations to show the problems faced by Third World producers in getting a fair price for their products.
And organisers of the event will be hoping to persuade more people to become ethical shoppers.
The Fairtrade seminar is being held at Pewsey Vale School on Saturday and is being organised by the Co-op group that has had a store in the village for many years.
Anne Jennings of the Co-op will outline the group's commitment to Fairtrade and especially its support for the Kuapa Kokoo co-operative in Ghana that supplies the cocoa for the Co-op's own brand chocolate.
Mrs Jennings said: "Students will be doing presentations to bring to life the issues and the event will allow people who are interested in ethical trading to get together.
"Those attending will get a real insight into how the lives of producers in the developing countries have been enormously improved simply by shoppers buying everyday Fairtrade products such as tea, coffee, bananas and chocolate."
Teacher Lindsay Long said the school was delighted to be hosting the event. Pewsey Vale School has established links with a school in Gunjur in The Gambia, West Africa.
The event will run from 10am-12.30pm. Those wishing to attend should book a place by ringing Mrs Long on (01672) 565000.
