MALMESBURY Citizens' Advice Bureau has returned to its normal hours after the town council agreed to man the front door to the town hall every Wednesday from 10am until 3pm.
The town council made this further U-turn following the outcry that erupted after the CAB said it was to pull out of the town because of a row over access to its town hall office.
The CAB said the number of its visitors had been cut by half since November when the council locked the front doors and moved the entrance through the Tourist Information Office. It said the situation meant it would have to close its town office.
After an outcry from users of the popular service, the council had a rethink and decided to open the front doors but only for the reduced times of 10am until 1pm. The council has now agreed to man the door until 3pm.
CAB area manager Liz Taylor said: "I am sorry we had this hiatus. It was very confusing and worrying for people and we are happy the service has been returned to normal."
The change took effect this week and Ms Taylor said yesterday's session had been very successful.
