NEW Swindon Supermarine boss Tommy Saunders had a real day to forget when he took the dug-out with his new side for the first time on Saturday.
The former Chippenham Town boss suffered the worst defeat of his managerial career as his side crumbled to a 6-0 thrashing at Halesowen.
Added to that his car broke down on the way back from the match and he only made it home after 10pm with a £500 repair bill in his pocket.
Saunders said: "It was a hugely disappointing experience.
"At the end of the day we started off fairly okay. We did have a couple of chances but then they scored two good goals. If we had got to half-time at 0-0 we maybe could have got something but once the third went in that was it.
"At 3-0 some of the lads seemed to throw the towel in and it was embarrassing. I've managed for 12 years and that was the most embarrassed I have ever been. It was the worst defeat I've suffered by a long, long way."
Saunders has already started making forays into the transfer market and is set to add more new faces in response to his debut defeat.
He signed former Swindon Town youngster Nathan Edwards on loan from Chippenham for a month and the 19-year-old midfielder made his debut at Halesowen.
Former Swindon Town striker Alan Young is now set to lead a list of new recruits at Hunts Copse.
Young, who was released from the County Ground earlier this season, was expected to make his home debut against Clevedon in the Dr Martens Western Division last night.
He could be joined by another frontman, Calne's Glenn Armstrong, and Saunders has admitted he wants a new midfielder after Sean Terry opted to move to Highworth.
Saunders is also looking to bolster the defence and did not rule out making more signings before last night's game for which skipper Giles Harris was suspended.
However, he has not yet had as much joy finding a finding a permanent assistant manager.
Mark Collier is helping Saunders when he can but cannot commit to every match because of commitments with Swindon Town.
