HIGHWORTH Warneford was described as "effective" in the latest report.
The school was heavily criticised in its last inspection in 2001, but serious weaknesses in the curriculum, management and leadership have been put right, according to the latest report.
Inspectors found the quality of education to be good with no unsatisfactory teaching in any subject area.
The 893 pupils are rated above average in a range of subjects, especially English,
School performance tables published last week showed 63 per cent of students attained five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C.
The report stated: "All groups of pupils, boys and girls and those with special needs or from minority ethnic backgrounds, achieve equally well in most lessons."
Areas that needed improving include:
l Providing better accommodation, including full access for disabled people.
l Strengthening the plans for application for a specialist status as a technology college.
l Make better links with parents.
Headteacher John Saunders said governors would produce a plan of action to address the weaknesses highlighted.
"The progress the school has made over the last two years is a tribute to the hard work of pupils, staff and governors together with the support form parents.
"We are delighted our school continues to be the best in the area."
