CALNE and Pewsey Rugby clubs have promised they will meet again to bury the hatchet after their friendly match at the weekend was abandoned because of a 14-man brawl.
The hastily-arranged game was refereed by a stand-in but ended in chaos as players swapped blows after a Calne player claimed he was stamped on.
Calne captain Alan Wicks said: "There was a niggle between two players from the first game we had this season and with that bit of friction and an inexperienced referee it didn't help the temperament of the game."
Pewsey secretary Dave Aroskin added: "It was just one of those things and maybe people got out of bed the wrong side."
