AS we approach the time where we all pause to reflect on our activities and achievements over the past year I would like to publicly thank all of your readers who have supported the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

Thanks goes to everyone who donated their time in order to co-ordinate fundraising, to those who have kindly sent donations after raising money over this festive time, and to all the people who have pledged their support or organised activities to raise money whilst celebrating the arrival of the new year and throughout 2004, the NSPCC's 120th year.

Not forgetting all those who have helped us by campaigning on our behalf, attended or helped at events, or simply taken the trouble to read our literature and have raised awareness by talking about us to others.

The NSPCC is the leading children's charity specialising in preventing child abuse. We are spearheading a host of new initiatives, working directly or in partnerships with others to bring about an end to child cruelty. We cannot do this alone and it is only through the generosity of the public that we will succeed.

I urge local supporters whom I have yet to meet, or people who would like to know how they can help in the future, to contact me on (01752) 846218 so that I can say thank you in person and discuss ideas.
