JANUARY 29, TROWBRIDGE: Wartime memories will be aroused when the Ministry of Entertainment's production, Doodlebugs And Bogeymen comes to the Arc Theatre next week.
Based on true stories and set to the music of the era, the play takes a light-hearted look at the lives of two children, aged 11 and 13, who are evacuated from London to the West Country during the war and of the community that received them.
In a show that is funny and nostalgic, a real insight is provided into life in Britain during that time through the eyes of these two characters.
The stories are true, gathered from people in the West Country; Brian and Jean are typical of many of those fleeing from London and the blitz.
It is the sequel to the hugely successful Keep Smiling Through which used true stories to recount the lives of two neighbours helping each other out through Bristol's darkest hour during the Blitz.
Bristol Old Vic favourites Kate McNab and Ross Harvey play the various characters in the show and Kit Morgan is the musical director.
Doodlebugs And Bogeymen was first performed in September 2002 and has been well received by audiences all over the West Country as part of a regional tour.
