A 22-YEAR-OLD Trowbridge man denied a racially aggravated public order charge when he appeared before Chippenham magistrates.
Trevor Spooner, of Timbrell Street, is accused of using racist language during a row with a shop worker in Newtown.
Spooner denied a charge of causing racially aggravated fear or provocation of violence at the hearing on Thursday. Magistrates agreed to keep the case within their jurisdiction but Spooner elected to be tried before a judge and jury at Swindon crown court.
The case was adjourned until March 11 for committal papers to be prepared.
