FIREFIGHTERS have tackled three blazes in the space of five days at the Airsprung factory in Trowbridge.

The first fire was tackled on Thursday morning as smoke filled the factory, but four days later fire crews were called back to put out a similar blaze.

Only 24 hours afterwards on Tuesday afternoon fire crews rushed back to the Canal Road factory to tackle a third fire in the same building.

The three outbreaks took place in a building used for woodcutting but were extinguished without any injuries by Trowbridge firefighters.

Damien Bence, community safety officer at Trowbridge fire station, said: "There is a high level of dust and wood in the factory concerned and call-outs are relatively frequent.

"Crews carried out a thorough inspection of the ducting, which removes wood dust from machines and transports it to the storage silos."

Firefighters also used thermal imaging cameras to find the root of the blaze through dense smoke.
