Around the world our soldiers are respected for their professionalism but they are jokingly called 'the borrowers' because of their lack of kit.
It is time for this joke to end because as shocking claims surrounding Warminster soldier Albert Thomson revealed, equipment shortages are causing injuries or even death.
The family were coming to terms with the incident before the scandal broke and claims his leg could have been saved if a £50 piece of medical equipment was available leaves more questions than answers.
Some family members of loved ones who died because of the kit scandal have called for Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon to resign.
But he needs to stay at least for now because he has a lot of questions to answer.
