THE Viaduct Fishery open match on Wednesday produced fair weights, but the 'golden peg' £500 was not won, although Dave Stockton came close to winning from the designated peg.
Avon Angling matchman Tony Rixon again hit the jackpot with an all-carp catch weighing 66lb 4oz, taking his catch on long pole-fished sweetcorn on a 14 hook.
Haines Angling matchman Dave Stockton finished second with another carp catch weighing 55lb 4oz, taken on pole-fished sweetcorn and pellets.
Tony Rixon, of Avon Angling, again showed all his class to win the Angling Times Premier League match at Viaduct Fisheries.
He took an all-carp catch weighing 90lb 6 oz, taken alternating with 13 metre pole-fished red maggots and sweetcorn for an easy victory.
Fishing at the next peg to the winner Team Sillybait matchman Carl Garrett was second with another carp catch weighing 67lb 7oz, taken on waggler-fished sweetcorn on a 14 hook.
Andy Power, of Viaduct Juniors, was third with another carp catch weighing 66lb 6oz, taken on pole-fished sweetcorn on a 14 hook.
Other placings: 4. Andy Lloyd Frome PA Megabait 54lb 5oz; 5. Hugh Webb Team Sillybait 51lb 15oz; 6. Ian Parsons M5 Sensas 50lb.
Competitors in the Lavington match on Sunday had to break the ice on the surface of Gilbert Lake and in the cold conditions fish were very hard to tempt.
Mark Williams, of Devizes, won with a mixed catch of roach and skimmers weighing 1lb 7oz, taken on pole-fished pinkies on a 22 hook.
Runner-up was Brian Ellis, of Melksham, with a skimmer catch weighing just 8oz, taken on feeder fished pinkies on a 22 hook.
Graham Pearce, of Lavington, was third with a catch of small roach weighing 7oz 9dm taken on pole-fished pinkies on a 22 hook.
Other placings: 4. Don Keats Hilperton 5oz 8dm; 5. Tony Weeks Lavington 4oz 8dm; 6. John Cooper Lavington 3oz.
Chub dominated the weights in an evenly fought contest in the Calne open match at Hazeland on Sunday.
Tony Dean, of Newbury, won with an all-chub catch weighing 7lb 13oz, taken on stick-floated red maggots on an 18 hook.
Stuart White, of Chippenham, again made the prize list in second spot with another chub catch weighing 6lb 9oz 8dm, taken on legered bread flake on a 14 hook. He was followed by Trevor Payne, of Chippenham, with an all-chub catch weighing 5lb 15oz, taken on legered luncheon meat on a 12 hook.
Carp made up the weights in the Wilts Angling open match at Witherington Farm on Sunday.
Nick Johns, of Trowbridge, gained a comfortable win with an all-carp catch weighing 52lb 7oz, taken alternating with waggler fished sweet corn and bronze maggots.
Veteran Trowbridge matchman Dave Baker was second with another carp catch weighing 31lb 3oz, taken on pole-fished sweet corn on a 14 hook. He was closely followed by Ian Willetts of Bradford with a carp catch weighing 31lb 1oz.
