A ROADSHOW about the introduction of wheelie bins in Wootton Bassett rolls into town this week.

Residents will be able to see the new green 180-litre containers, which take up to three sacks of rubbish, before they are delivered to homes on Monday, Feb-ruary 2.

They will also have a chance to question North Wiltshire District staff, who will be accompanying the trailer.

An information pack, which will be delivered with the bin, will have a sticker telling residents the date of their first collection.

The first one in Wootton Bassett is on Monday, February 16.

The new service aims to encourage householders to reduce the amount of rubbish they throw away each week.

Homes that cannot be reached by the collection lorries have been identified and householders there can have a maximum of three black sacks of waste collected a week.

Special sacks, carrying the council's logo, are provided free.

The bins are being delivered to 10,500 homes in Wootton Bassett, Crick-lade and Purton.

The roadshow will be in Wootton Bassett High Street today and in Boroughfields car park tomorrow.

It will also visit Purton Village Hall car park on Friday, January 30 and Cricklade Town Hall car park on Saturday, Jan-uary 31.

It is open to the public between 9.30am and 4pm.
