PROUD pupils at Rodbourne Cheney Primary School have been dragging their parents into the hall all week to see a huge mural taking shape.
The 222 youngsters at the school in Broadway, each designed a figure for the six by three metre picture which depicts people working together.
"It is a bit like a graphic version of a motto for the school,'' said headteacher Paul Turner.
He explained that it was the brainchild of art co-ordinator Sharon Baker and the children had all created plywood figures which demonstrated a different emotion or mood, from happiness or sadness, to anger or relaxation.
The figures were then cut out and put on the mural by two artists, Toni Robinson and Gordon Dickinson, who were helping to complete it.
"It is very surreal in some ways," he said.
"The figures have the name of the person who designed it and the emotion written on the back, but because it can't be seen, you have to guess what feeling they are trying to portray."
All the members of staff have also contributed a figure to the picture, which has taken around a week to put together.
Mr Turner said the children had been very enthusiastic about the project.
"They have been in and out looking at it every day, they were even dragging their parents in to have a look."
