AN APPEAL for three volunteer drivers has been launched by Thamesdown Dial a Ride and Community Transport.
The group helps people unable to use conventional public transport due to disability or other mobility problems.
Current vacancies include one for a volunteer minibus driver able to work every Tuesday and Friday between 8.30am and 4pm.
The work will involve taking older people from Swindon to the Thamesdown Stroke Centre in Pinehurst.
The second vacancy is for another volunteer minibus driver, able to work every Saturday between 8.45am and 10.15am and between 2.45pm and 4pm they will not be needed between 10.15am and 2.45pm. It will involve driving people to the Age Concern Day Centre in Haydon Wick.
Also needed is a volunteer driver to help with the Dial a Ride car service every Tuesday.
This service involves transporting people from Swindon and rural areas surrounding it, and destinations can include anywhere in mainland Britain.
Volunteers must be aged between 21 and 69, have a clean driving licence and have at least two years' driving experience. The group will provide all necessary training.
