JULY 17: STAFF at a Swindon company took a trip down memory lane to raise money for a unique fundraising drive.
Workers at Great Western Enter-prise held a guess the baby competition to raise money for Swindon Cares.
The scheme aims to raise £10,000 during a dedicated week of moneymaking activities, which comes to an end on Saturday, and so far the total raised is around £4,800.
The funds will benefit three local charities the NSPCC, Age Concern and the Swindon cancer Appeal for Macmillan nurses.
Lynne Bamford was one of the 13 people who allowed their picture to be displayed on the intranet. People had to pay £2 to take part in the competition.
Ms Bamford, who is a personal assistant, said: "It has been really good, everyone has been really busy with a big contract but they have all spared a few minutes for Swindon Cares.
"We are hoping to raise between £300 and £400."
Theresa Mart, a finance assistant at the company, also had her baby picture on show.
She said: "It has been quite hard to guess because nobody really looks like their baby photos.
"We have all gone a bit googly- eyed because everyone was so cute."
Great Western Enterprise works with small and medium-sized business to help create and sustain economic growth.
Four of the company's Swindon offices organised a variety of activities for Swindon Cares Week including competitions guessing the number of sweets in a jar, as well as hosting a mufti day.
One office held a guess the weight of the cake competition and raised £110. Money from other Swindon Cares events has started to roll in.
A team of cyclists which toured 26 Arkell's pubs in the town raised more than £1,200 around £900 through sponsorship and the rest from the street collections which were carried out by Steph Trinci and Sam Jackson from the Swindon Chamber of Commerce.
Swindon Cares is supported by Nationwide, Zurich Financial Services, The Evening Advertiser, GWR Community Trust, BBC Radio Swindon, Rotary Club of Swindon, Swindon Council and Swindon Chamber of Commerce.
