Swindon entertained Bristol University in a friendly at Greenbridge Road, narrowly losing 24-17.
The home side roared into a 12-0 lead, second rows Andy Morley and Nick Warren crossing for tries.
But the students hit back and were level by half-time.
With the wind at their backs the University played percentage rugby after the break and two more tries took them 24-12 ahead.
A second try for Warren gave Swindon some late hope, but was jot enough.
