Swindon suffered their first defeat of the season in Division 1 of the Swindon & District League, going down by one run to Civil Service.
Batting first, Civil Service made 124-4 with Sean Smith scoring 39 not out. In reply, Swindon were well-placed at halfway on 55-1, but a series of run-outs checked their momentum and they eventually fell short, despite the efforts of James (45) and Nichols (37).
GWR remain at the bottom after a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Asians. Luke Leach blasted a magnificent 56 in GWR's 114 all out but Asians got home with three balls remaining, thanks to unbeaten knocks from Ray Patel (33) and Raj Samant (30).
Wootton Bassett are favourites to win Division 2 after a 33-run victory over Litten Tree. Howie Griffin top-scored with 33 not out in Bassett's 118-4 and Litten Tree were never really in the hunt despite Phill Tonk's 29.
Wanborough stay second after crushing an understrength Minety by 98 runs. Paul Sore hit an unbeaten 44 in their 169-1.
It was a poor day in Division 3 for Faringdon as they lost to Highworth by 54 runs and then Ramsbury by 75 runs, a win which took the latter off the bottom.
South West are now in danger of the drop as they lost to promotion chasing Swindon 2nd by two wickets.
Bob Upshall hit 42 not out in South West's 76-5, and Swindon were rarely troubled as they won with three overs to spare, Mark Thomas hitting an unbeaten 29.
In Division 4 Cirencester suffered their second consecutive defeat against Nationwide. Mark Vincent hit 31 in the Swindon side's total of 102, and in reply Cirencester struggled to 83 all out.
