A MUCH-CHANGED Chippenham third string was on the receiving end of a hammering as Cleve defeated them 40-6.
Chippenham made eight changes but still started with the bare XV and Cleve dominated the first 20 minutes.
Chippenham held firm, but the pressure finally told and they conceded the first try.
A further score made it 12-0, but Chippenham finally won some possession and Paul Bates kicked two quick penalties.
Cleve scored once more before half-time to give them a 19-6 lead and they made 10 changes at the start of the second half.
The fresh legs made a difference as Cleve clocked up the tries after the interval.
