Wootton Bassett Under 16s recorded a 19-5 win at home against Swindon in the Wiltshire League.

Bassett grabbed the lead when full-back Chris Hale scored a try under the posts which he converted himself.

Swindon's cause was not helped by indiscipline which eventually resulted in the blind side flanker being sin-binned, but the visitors still managed to reduce arrears with an unconverted try.

But Bassett pulled away in the second half despite second row Michael Crook having a try disallowed.

Eventually, fly-half Jon Birch dived on the loose ball for an unconverted try.

And the game was made safe when Birch broke blind and crashed through several defenders to score his second, which was converted by Hale.

Six tries, including a hat-trick for left wing Matthew Clarke, helped Chippenham Under 16s to a 40-0 friendly win over Dursley.

Michael Baptiste also touched down while there was a try and five conversions from centre Lloyd Wiltshire and a score for No 8 John Boddington.

Team: A Brown, R Arittopha, N Quarrel, M Dick, J Boddington, M Bye, R Fannin, S Johnston, L Surry, F Brown, M Clarke, M Baptiste, M Sparrow, L Wiltshire, S Kingsbury.

CENTRE Tom Boreham bagged two tries as Chippenham Under 14s defeated Salisbury 24-12.

The three-quarters scored all four of the tries, three from inside their own half.

Boreham scored the first, while wing Matt Tatara then outpaced the defence.

Then centre Callum Fannin touched down before Salisbury fought back with a close range try.

Boreham added a second try after the break, but Salisbury had the last word, scoring again.

NICK Cozens bagged four tries as Swindon under 13 defeated a much-fancied Witney side 31-22 in a thriller.

There were debuts for Harry Dean, Luke Guest and Sam Kennedy, but it was full-back Cozens that led the way, Ben Loosmore converting once.

In the second half, Loosmore added another try and converted it, and Cozens completed his haul before Witney staged a late four-try revival.
