Swindon Primary Schools A team earned their first Cotswold League victory of the season with a deserved 1-0 victory away at league champions Gloucester.

Having lost their five previous matches Swindon knew that they needed to win this match not just to get their season back on track, but to also maintain any interest in winning the league itself.

Munton, Finnegan, Hawkins and Valentine defended superbly from the start, closing down the Gloucester front men and challenging for every ball.

When Gloucester did manage to get the ball through Swindon's backline Sansum was ever alert and dived bravely to collect at the feet of James- Bryan.

Sealey and Thompson worked hard to break down Gloucester's attacks in midfield marking tightly and refusing to let the home side settle.

Swindon's only clear cut chance of the half was a speculative overhead shot from Thompson which James in goal caught easily.

In the second period Swindon brought on Redford (at left back) for Sealey and moved Finnegan into central midfield, allowing Hawkins to move across to centre-back.

Swindon began to press more as Savage contained Miller on the left and Finnegan linked well with Munton to allow Bray more space on the right.

Swindon went ahead after the home side conceded a free-kick on the edge of the penalty area. Bray stepped up and floated a superb shot over the wall towards the top fight corner.

James got the slightest of touches on the ball but could only push it on to the underside of the bar and Pocock reacted quickly to slide the ball home.

Gloucester tried to get back into the match in the final quarter but Swindon continued to close down and pressure them whenever they were in possession.

Swindon's reward of three valuable points was doubly sweet as the Wiltshire side secured their first win at Gloucester in four years.

Swindon Primary Schools B side returned to winning ways after a single goal from top scorer Jason Cass was enough to secure a 1-0 against Gloucester.

Swindon took the lead when Cass raced onto a through ball from Dandy and slotted the ball confidently into the corner.

The second half saw the introduction of Jack Wilkinson for Ryan McCarthy. Gloucester failed to assert any sustained pressure in the early stages and it was Swindon who created the first chance.

A foul by the impressive Josh Audritt presented Gloucester with a golden opportunity to equalise from a freekick on the edge of the box, but the Swindon wall was brave and the danger was cleared.
