A ROADSHOW about the introduction of wheelie bins in Wootton Bassett gave residents a demonstration of the green 180-litre containers.

The bins take up to three sacks of rubbish and will be delivered to homes on next Monday.

An information pack, which will be delivered with the bin, will have a sticker telling residents the date of their first collection but the first one in the Wootton Bassett area is on Monday February 16.

The new service aims to encourage householders to reduce the amount of rubbish they throw away each week.

Homes that cannot be accessed by the collection lorries have been identified, and householders can have a maximum of three black sacks of waste collected a week from their homes. Special sacks, carrying the council's logo, are provided free.

The bins are being delivered to 10,500 homes in Wootton Bassett, Cricklade and Purton. The roadshow will be in Purton on Friday, January 30, and Cricklade Town Hall car park on Saturday, January 31. It is open to between 9.30am and 4pm.
