POLICE are appealing for more information about an accident in which a pedestrian suffered serious head injuries.
Ian Williams, 23, from Shaw, West Swindon, was hit by a Toyota camper van as he walked along the Great Western Way between the Blagrove and Mannington roundabouts at about 11.45pm on Saturday.
He was taken to the Great Western Hospital where his condition is said to be stable.
Plans are being made to move him out of intensive care.
It is thought he was walking home from the town centre after celebrating a friend's birthday.
The driver escaped injury and two passengers, who are both from Swindon, were treated at the hospital for minor head injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the accident or saw the victim on the carriageway is asked to contact PC Andrew Stanley at the traffic department on 01793 528111.
